This blog contains my daily (or weekly
) insights about my PhD project; Glocal Design, and also other design related issues. I found it as a good way to share my ideas in an informal and interactive way. Also I think that, there are other people who can see this topic from other perspectives, so there would be more space for creativity with having their comments here.My supervisor is Casper Boks, since 2008 (6 months before moving to Norway and starting my PhD at NTNU, department of product design) we were in contact, and he was quite helpful, not only for developing the Glocal Design concept, but in the process of adapting to new environment.
In brief, you can guess the topic of my project form its name: Glocal (Global + Local). There would be discussions about globalization process, “gloCalization” concept, cultural and geographic differences in regional markets and the phenomena of emerging markets and economies. However, I’m not trying to show that these differences “do exist” , or “are important”, but I’m working on the solutions that companies can apply to have more success in emerging markets and/or the ways that regional needs of users can be considered in products which are not being designed and produced in their home countries. My main scope is mobile communication devices, because of their interesting relationships with information technology, global producers, users’ lifestyle, culture and society at the same time.

I have a Persian blog with a different atmosphere, it’s design related also, but it’s more about my personal experiences which in my opinion, are helpful for my Iranian colleagues. you can find the link in the right.
